Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Process claim closures, supplemental payments, and assist with processing Workers Compensation (WC) and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) documents
  • Provide clerical support for Third Party Administrative (TPA) unit – including but not limited to researching/reviewing/distributing mail, invoices, incoming faxes, vendor inquiries, maintaining and updating excel reports, printing and distributing outbound mail, producing and distributing soft copy documents, photocopying files, distributing and filing hard copy documents
  • Research, verify, edit, and reconcile documents and discrepancies as requested
  • Assist with maintaining records of files in offsite storage facility and records of Disability Compensation Division (DCD) hearings and decisions
  • Maintain and provide reports on hearings and training to department management
  • Assist with batch billings for payment, enter payments in various software systems, upload documents to various client systems, maintain records for audit purposes
  • Assist with processing customer survey responses, recording and distributing responses to the unit
  • Occasional special projects

Special Circumstances: 

  • Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required
  • This is a project position that will end by 9/26/2022


Qualifications / Experience:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 2 years general office experience
  • Type 35+ wpm
  • 10 key by touch
  • Able to alphabetize and match documents in a high paced multi-task environment
  • Basic proficiency of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and internet navigation understanding
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers
  • Able to work independently using standard operation procedure (SOP) documents
  • Able to select from an option when presented with a problem.
  • Demonstrates ability to interact with others, largely peers, in a friendly, open, and respectful manner. Build internal relationships. Demonstrates a keen sense of curiosity; eager to understand “why” decisions are being made
  • Able to recognize and acknowledge opportunities for changes under supervisor guidance
  • Accountable to change and able to adapt to various levels of complexity, diversity and evolving work flow processes

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Insurance related experience, knowledge of Hawaii WC forms and other insurance forms/ACORD
  • Ability to recognize various types of medical, auto repair documents, correspondence and reports
  • Respects diversity; demonstrates respect for the opinion and contributions of others
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships at all levels in an organization
  • Able to correspond with all levels in an organization to resolve issues and inquiries
  • Able to read, analyze external and internal reports and recommend solutions to simplify or modify the reports
  • Proficient use of FICOH/FiRMS systems required to complete all transactions and tasks (for internal candidates)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Able to use software, extract data, and create basic forms, tables, reports, and worksheets using auto, match, compare, find functions (for external candidates)
