Duties

Job Summary:

Perform the highest quality of bill review.  Process PL vendor invoices and settlement requests.  Assist in preparing and submitting requests for remittances to appropriate payors.  Maintain the Bill Review email box.  Assist in completing business plan and other special projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Review PL vendor invoices, including, but not limited to the following:

Non-Pharma Defense Counsel Bills, Non-Pharma Expert Bills, Non-Pharma Investigator Bills, Non-Pharma Court Reporter Bills – Review invoices for improper billing rates and timekeeping charges from attorneys, associates, paralegals, etc.  Review invoices for improper expense charges.  Reduce invoices in accordance with the established PL billing policies and procedures. 

    All Other Non-Pharma Vendor Bills – Review invoices for improper charges. Reduce invoices in accordance with the established PL billing policies and procedures.   

  1. Review PL settlement requests, including, but not limited to reviewing settlement request documents such as status report, reserve analysis report, W9 form, Medicare form, release, and annuity agreement; and verifying loss payee information and settlement amount.
  2. Handle TMM deductible adjustments, monthly reconciliations for TMM and Pharma accounts, etc.
  3. Request remittances for OTAI, PL, and Self-Payors, including but not limited to issuing, exporting, and clearing payments, responding to payment inquiries, and following up on unpaid remittances.
  4. Handle the UDI afternoon process, and morning process when necessary.
  5. Maintain the Bill Review email box, including, but not limited to responding to inquiries pertaining to the E-Billing system, status of invoices, defense counsel timekeeper and case budget requests for approval.
  6. Handle 1099 reporting, including but not limited to TIN name matching, reviewing payment history reports, submitting the NEC and Miscellaneous 1099s to the states and IRS, etc.
  7. Review and update procedures in the manual.
  8. Maintain compliance with general accounting practice.
  9. Maintain compliance with proper internal control necessary to conduct job functions; carry out responsibilities and/or other administrative activities at the Company.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

-     College degree preferred

-     1 to 2 years experience as claims support staff

-     Basic Accounting background

-     Efficient and accurate typing skills

-     Ability to work as a team member

-     Ability to work independently

-     Ability to handle multiple tasks

-     Good customer service skills

-     Good organizational skills

-     Good mathematical and analytical skills

-     Good oral and written communication skills

-     Proficient PC skills
