Duties

Job Summary

This person is responsible for providing support to Underwriting team members, learning and applying sound underwriting decisions to derive a profit while maintaining a strong positive relationship with the producers they are assigned.  All of this to be done within the guidelines and culture of TMA.

 Job Duties

  • Learn TMA process and procedures as well developing underwriting knowledge and skills through training with current staff and other tools.  Support Underwriters by processing assigned work that supports their accounts and producers. Cooperate with co-workers to foster a teaming atmosphere.  Work with established work-flows to meet Western Region time service goals.
  • Learn to review new business, renewal, and endorsement requests.  Analyze all information provided.  Obtain additional information as needed to determine acceptability based on underwriting guidelines and sound judgment. Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with producers. 
  • Learn effective sales and negotiation skills to obtain and retain accounts on the most profitable terms available to TMA. Work closely with other internal departments such as loss control, claims, coordination, premium audit, and accounting to meet client service goals and increase knowledge on your accounts.
  • Learn TMA and Department of Insurance Guidelines to ensure the profitability and legality of the business you support.  Prepare production reports and special projects as assigned by management. Make use of current TMA technology to process your work.  Update skills as necessary, including but not limited to the PDCL, SalesForce, OnBase, and Word and Excel programs.
  • Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.

 

Qualifications

College Degree preferred- Minimum of 1 year of insurance experience or equivalent.
Computer literate (MS Windows environment preferred)
Strong oral and written communication skills.
