Duties

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

 

Lead Adjuster:

  • Assist the AVP of Claims by serving as a formal team leader with assigned supervisory responsibilities as determined by the manager such as technical file review and self-audits, claims assignments and other decision-making delegations. 
  • Assist the AVP of Claims by providing coaching, mentoring and training to further the adjusters’ development and promote a strong team.
  • Adjust general liability claims at a Senior Adjuster level

 

Claims Supervisor:

  • Manage, supervise, train and evaluate the performance of associates within the general liability unit, according to FICOH practices and standards to assure consistency in claims adjusting, associate development, process improvement and support FICOH’s goals.
  • Monitor compliance with claim handling guidelines and identify potential training areas.
  • Recruit, retain and develop a qualified workforce.  Assist employees in developing core competencies essential so they may meet or exceed expectations.  Provide counseling and guidance.
  • Assign new claims.  Monitor workload.  Through audit and spot-checks, review and discuss new and existing claims to provide direction and training.
  • Review or prepare reports for internal and external customers and upper management communicating specialized information in a “user friendly” manner.
  • Develop ideas that improve existing methods, procedures, services or products.
  • Address a variety of duties to support upper management and the needs of the unit.  Assist in special projects.
  • Make informal presentations to co-workers and/or customers, typically in small groups.
  • Establish rapport within the unit or with other units and departments or external customers.

 

Special Circumstances:

  • May require periodic overtime and weekend work
  • Neighbor Island travel may be required on short notice

 

Qualifications

Qualifications / Experience:

  • 4 year College Degree or relevant claims or management experience
  • Excellent written, oral communication skills and customer service
  • Solid relationship building and interpersonal skills necessary to service internal/external customers
  • Excellent organization skills necessary to juggle multiple priorities and assignments
  • Good critical thinking skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Outlook and Internet applications
  • Ability to handle stress and manage oneself in a professional manner
  • Ability to work well with others and independently
  • Possess Driver’s License with clean abstract

 

Lead Adjuster (all the above requirements including the following):

  • 4+ years of claims experience, at least partially in liability, preferably in Hawaii
  • No management experience required

 

Claims Supervisor (all the above requirements including the following):

  • 5+ years of claims experience, preferably handling general liability claims. 
  • 1+ years’ experience in a supervisor position with input into hiring and compensation decisions, managing workflow and resource allocation, and conducting performance evaluations
