Duties

*This position is located on the island of Oahu and candidates must work in the state of Hawaii upon hire*

 

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Adjust a variety of Workers’ Compensation claims, both new and existing claims according to department guidelines   
  • Meet with injured workers, take recorded statements, conduct on-site investigation
  • Meet with insureds, agents and providers to develop rapport and formulate strategies for claims resolution

 

Special Circumstances:

  • Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required
  • Neighbor Island travel may be required to attend hearings and claims status reviews

 

Qualifications

Qualifications / Experience:

Claims Trainee I

  • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience (customer service or insurance related)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to prioritize assignments
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

 

Adjuster I through Senior Adjuster (Including the above requirements plus the following):

  • Limited Hawaii Workers Compensation (WC) license or Independent Adjuster License
  • Good working knowledge of State WC statutes with the ability to assess liability, determine compensability and apply facts to the loss
  • Experienced in adjudicating WC claims at Disability Compensation Division (DCD) hearings and completing client/agency claim status reports
  • Able to conduct claim status reviews and present the complexity of issues based on prior claim handling experience

 

Claims Trainee II (including above Claims Trainee I requirements)

  • 6 months of medical only adjusting experience

 

Adjuster I (including above requirements):

  • 1 year of medical and indemnity adjusting experience

 

Adjuster II (including above requirements):

  • 2 years of medical and indemnity adjusting experience

 

Adjuster III (including above requirements):

  • 3 years of medical and indemnity adjusting experience

 

Adjuster IV (including above requirements):

  • 4 years of medical and indemnity adjusting experience

 

Sr. Adjuster (including above requirements):

  • 5 years of medical and indemnity adjusting experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Insurance Designations
