Job Summary:

This individual will be assisting portfolio managers leveraging alternative data (e.g. news, regulatory filings) to develop systematic trading strategies in the Equity space, focusing on US large and mid-cap stocks.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist portfolio manager in managing a long-only portfolio for US large and mid-cap stocks, research on existing alphas and add new alphas to the current framework
  • Generate innovative research ideas, evaluate current and new datasets, perform strategy back tests, portfolio optimization and risk management, etc.
  • Implement ETL processes and manage databases, rewrite legacy prototyping codes into production codes, evaluate and optimize current production codes and technology spending if needed
  • Work with technology vendors to manage existing cloud computing  infrastructures and onboard new computing capabilities (such as AWS, etc.), and familiar with obtaining alternative data from different data sources


  • Strong problem solving, analytic and quantitative skills, working towards master’s degree or above and currently enrolled in quantitative finance, statistics, computer science or related majors
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong interests in cutting edge technologies and their applications in finance
  • Great communication, written and presentation skills to convey ideas precisely to the team members and senior management team
  • Proficient in Python, and familiar with database programming languages such as  SQL, etc.
  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn), and models such as Logistic Regression, NLP, Gradient Boosting algorithms is a plus
  • Experience working with open source libraries and distributed computing (e.g., AWS) is a plus
